sweetgreen, Dupont Circle, located at 1512 Connecticut Avenue, NW is pleased to announce a special book signing party with Editor-in-Chief of Bon Appétit, Barbara Fairchild.  She will join Nicolas Jammet, Nathaniel Ru and Jonathan Neman at their restaurant for one night only, Friday, June 5, 2009.  The special two-hour reception, co-sponsored by Hook Books Events, begins at 5:30 PM; is priced at $35 per person for general admission.  The ticket includes a signed copy of The Bon Appetit Fast Easy Fresh Cookbook as well as a variety of sweetgreen salads to sample and appetizers created from recipes in the cookbook.  To purchase advance tickets, go to http://www.sweetgreen.eventbrite.com/.  A limited number of tickets will also be available at the door.

 

Barbara Fairchild joined Bon Appétit in 1978 as an editorial assistant, and after rising through the ranks, was promoted to Editor-in-Chief in June 2000.  During her tenure as Editor-in-Chief, Bon Appétit has been honored with three James Beard Awards, two VisitBritain Travel Writing Awards, a VisitScotland Travel Journalism Award and the Society of American Travel Writers’ Lowell Thomas Award for Outstanding Travel Writing.  Her highly successful cookbooks have been selected among the top books of the year by Publishers Weekly and Amazon.com.

Recognized by the Green Restaurant Association™ as a Certified Green Restaurant, sweetgreen focuses on organic cuisine and sustainable practices, from the non-processed ingredients used for the menu to ‘green’ interior design elements.  Chef-crafted salads, wraps, and all-natural, fat-free frozen yogurt can be found on the menu along with locally distributed bottled beverages, such as juices and HONEST TEA®.  The menu is broken into categories such as “Chef Crafted,” “Old School Favorites,” “Mix Your Own Greens” and yogurt choices under “Sweetflow.”  The emphasis in every dish is on fresh, organic and locally available products.  The sweetgreen philosophy is to offer healthy, alternative options for its customers, and to draw attention to social responsibility and sustainable living.
